To be honest, I have more than one.
Starting from making macaroni and cheese soup, to ending up with second degree burns on my arms from a bacon grease fail.
I think alot of people can relate to fails happening when you’re cooking, as some meals just don’t go the way they should.
My dad taught me how to make macaroni and cheese the way he makes it, when I was about 12 or so.
The light boiling of the noodles till they are done. Just a little oil and salt in the pan to keep them honest. The five minute stirring in the end before you drain the water, because he just seemed to think it helped. Cutting up precisely one third of a Velveeta block, and making sure to have enough milk and butter on hand to keep it creamy.
Well one day I was going through the motion of letting the noodles boil and stirring them in the end, and I remember my mom and I were just having a blast talking and carrying on with dinner. Well silly me forgot to drain the water left over from the boiled noodles… and just started to throw in my milk, butter, and cheese. Still completely oblivious, my dad finally comes in and he asked me what was wrong with my mac and cheese. I told him I didn’t know, but it seemed off. So he takes the spoon and starts lifting some out of the pan and it’s just so runny it’s not even funny. That’s when he asked me if I drained the water. Apparently I had this look on my face that told him I didn’t, and we both started busting up laughing.
Needles to say, mac and cheese was off the dinner list that night!
I do recommend using the baking gloves and things if you cook bacon in the oven.
I still have the discoloration and nasty looking spot from when I tried to take my pan of bacon out of the oven, and I leaned just right….
Bacon grease all down my right arm. I had the nastiest blisters and everything for weeks!
So, just watch out when you deal with something like that.
Ahh, the joys of cooking!
