Finding Balance: Being The Exception

Have you ever had surgery? What for?

I have had one surgery in my life so far. I got my tubes tied after I had my 4th baby in 2019. Usually it is routine to have it have it done right after your child is born, but I was an exception.

So four hours later I was wheeled into the room already sedated, and they started by making their incision right below my belly button. A little procedure that should take maybe thirty minutes to complete, took three hours.

When I went in to have my daughter I was battling a cold. So when they were trying to tie my tubes, I was coughing the entire time. At one point I woke up on the operating table, and they kept asking me to tell them when I needed to cough.

Afterwards, my incision also got infected and had swelled and I had a big rash down my stomach and everything. My skin is sensitive to like everything, which didn’t help. So I had to have the nurse check on me every few hours to make sure it wasn’t getting worse and she had the doctor come in, because she was concerned about it.

Needless to say, it was a horrible experience for something so simple and routine.
